Seeing how she often worked h a rd e r th an h e r s treng th would allow, they did some ta sk s before she could, very happy to give h e r a surprise . "She did not know how to express h e r g ra titud e to us a fte r wards," they recalled with emotion. S ister F au s tin a had h e r own method of upbringing. Even when du ties were m any and u rgen t, she knew how to find a suitable moment to d irect th e g irls’ though ts towards God, or to say a sho rt p raye r with them. "She took every opportunity," says the ward Hedwig Owar, who is quoted above, "to instruct us in the tru ths o f the fa ith , or ahout the goodness and love o f God, and she was especially happy when able to ta lk on these subjects. A lthough she sa id little on everyday matters, when it came to ins truc ting us on matters o f fa ith , she d id so w illingly and then she had a lot to say. We used to wonder tha t she was only a sister o f the second choir, and yet so wise... When anyone was troubled or suffering, she knew how to console and to show how crosses shou ld be borne for the love o f God. She readily forgave slights and discourtesies, and explained tha t was how to behave, i f one loved God... She also took care tha t no one in her presence spoke ill o f her neighbour. I f she heard the g irls gossiping ill-naturedly she would a t once break in w ith the ejaculation: "Jesus silent a n d humb le o f Heart - " and we had to answer in chorus: "Make our hearts like Yours". When sometimes the g irls used to quarrel, she would talk to them so tha t a ll antagonism d is appeared".
