Sister Faustina Kowalska: Her LIfe and MIssion

"when, six months after f in ish ing the novitiate, S ister Faustina was transferred to Vilnius, the then Superior a t Vilnius, Mother Irene, wrote to our Novice Mistress in these words, which later our Novice Mistress read to us: "Sister Faustina has arrived here and her behaviour is edifying." A sim ilar description was given by the Superior a t Kiekrz, Mother Xavier Olszanowska, when she sen t the Mother General h e r opinion of S ister Faustina : "She is an unusual nun, w ith a deep interior life and united w ith God... she has special graces from God." When S ister F au s tin a arrived in Walendow, S ister R. says: "One o f the older sisters sa id to us:" A young but extraordinary sister has come to us. We must be careful not to give her scandal." The Congregation greatly appreciated the spiritual values of S ister Faustina . She was one of those sisters whose opinion counted often even above h e r s ta tu s as a s is te r of the second choir. For such a large group, th e re were no t many sisters whom S ister F au s tina had difficulty in living with, or who had reservations about her, or who decidedly did not like her. Their opinions cannot have been taken very seriously by th e ir superiors, because as Sister Felicia says: "Sister Faustina had no external problems in tl e communal life as regards other sisters or her super­ iors. She coped in every situation, and to those with an aversion she was invariably most charitable and k ind ly ." 432
