Sister Faustina Kowalska: Her LIfe and MIssion

"Near the end o f the novitiate, S is ter Faustina came to work in the kitchen. One tim e when the potatoes had to be drained, I wanted to help her, because I feared tha t she had neither the strength nor the skill. B u t she began w ith en thusiasm and d id it herself. When she p u t down the po t w ith the steam ing po ta ­ toes, I noticed tha t she was s taring into the po t w ith some surprise. I wondered w ha t she was seeing there, but when I asked her, she replied, "Nothing, nothing, Sister." When her Diary was read after her death, among other things there was a mention o f this incident . " (Archives of S.F., Recollections). Going to Je su s "for advice" was done once and again and became a hab it, and in th is way p raye r came into th e very basis of h e r work: i t included no t only the m ean ing b u t th e organization of it. S is te r F au s tina learned in every case f irs t to agree the work with God and only after looking a t i t from th e po in t of view of His requ irem en ts did she s ta r t work. The Divine point of view was an essen tia l in wha tever she did, because she did everything for Him. She would not compromise on th a t . To begin a ta sk with God does no t mean au tom a tica l­ ly th a t He will always rem a in in our though ts while we do it. Remembering Him all the time certainly does not come easily, as we all know, b u t i t is no t impossible. There is only one indispensable condition needed to achieve th is: one h a s to love. When someone loves, the though ts autom atically tu rn to th e beloved, and she finds all k inds of ways to show h e r love. God was ever-present in th e though ts of S ister Fau s tina . Keeping contact w ith Him was possible m any times du ring the day by v isiting the Blessed Sacrament. She le t no chance go by to drop in to th e chapel for a moment.
