Sister Faustina Kowalska: Her LIfe and MIssion
\Bear in mind that when you come out o f this retreat, I shad be deeding w ith you as zvith a perfect soul. I w an t to hoCd you in M y hand as a plian t tool, perfectly adapted to the completion o f M y works.' (Diary, Notebook V, para . 1359). G ra titude fills the soul of S is te r F au s tin a a t the though t of what she has received, and how God helps a h e a r t which sincerely loves Him. She had obtained so much from Him th a t h e r "cup ru n n e th over", as the Psa lm ist says. At the end of the re tre a t and h e r meditations she sums up once more w ha t she has obtained. I t is as follows: 7 have come to a knowledge o f my destiny; that is, an inward certainty that I w i d a ttain sanctity." (Diary, Notebook V, para . 1362). She confides in Jesus: "In profound silence, dose to yo u r merciful Meart, my soul is maturing during this retreat... [It] has lost its tartness and has become a sweet ripe fru it. Mow I can be wholly useful to the Church by my personal sanctity, which throbs w ith life in the whole Church, fo r we a ll make up one organism in Jesus. ‘That is why I endeavour to make the soil o f my heart bear good f r u i t . ' (Diary, Notebook V, para. 1364). Assured by Jesu s th a t she h a s properly understood h e r road to sanctity, S ister F au s tin a finishes the re tre a t with the decision th a t she will do everything to love Him to a heroic degree, and to reflect in herse lf His love for mankind. 336
