I have th is conversation on pages 247-249 of MS (bu t only insofar as i t concerns th e new Congregation). I add the r e s t of h is account now: "I had come to Cracow to the conference o f Theologi­ cal Institutes, and I found S is ter Faustina in the hospital for infectious diseases a t Prq,dnik, already prepared for death. I visited her dur ing tha t week." F a th e r Sopocko received th e fina l requests as to w ha t he had to do: "that I was m a in ly to try to have the Feast o f Mercy established on the f ir s t Sunday after Easter, tha t I was not to concern m yse lf too much w ith the new congregation, tha t I would recognize, by certain signs, who is to do wha t in th is matter... and th is also, tha t she would soon die, and everything she had had to say and write had been done." (Archives of S.F., Recollections). There can be no doubt th a t before h e r dea th S ister F au s tin a was fully aware w h a t Je su s w an ted from her, and she also knew th a t she had fulfilled His com­ mands. She died with a feeling of accomplishment, though h e r mission was unfinished . For us, there rem a ins the still unansw ered question; when did she unders tand?
