Pillars of Fire In My Soul

Appendix Rev. Michael Sopocko concerning the Image of The Divine Mercy I. (Written to Dr. Julian Chrosciechowski, later a Marian Father, on April 29, 1949.) Regarding the description of the image, according to Sister Faustina, the image is to represent the Lord Jesus in a walking posture, clothed in a long white garment with a band [belt] round the waist. The eyes must be somewhat cast down, and the look [gaze], as from the cross, merciful. With the right hand he’s to be blessing the world, and with the left, opening [draw- ing aside] the garment in the area of the Heart. From under the open [drawn aside] garment there are to be gushing [streaming, bursting] forth two rays: on the right of the onlooker a pale [= colorless] one, and on the left a red one. These rays are to be transparent, but appropriately throwing light on the figure of the Savior, as well as on the area [space] in front of Him. II. ( Written to Fr. Julian Chrosciechowski, MIC from Bialystok on April 1, 1956.) We should base the devotion to The Divine Mercy upon public revelation whose expression is the liturgy of Low Sunday [now officially: the Second Sunday of Easter]. Circles [agents] exercising deciding control over such matters have immense reservations about private revelations (thanks to Divine Mercy … We Trust in You! 81
