Pillars of Fire In My Soul
The theologians concerned assert, therefore, that the repeated invitation of the Second Vatican Council to respect charisms should open minds today to that theology of prophetic charism and to its essential function in the divine economy of the government of the Church. So, then, they assure us that, when the Popes consecrate the world to the Heart of Christ or to the Heart of Mary [or, we could add, establish a new Feast in the Church] at a request made to them by the prophetic route and after satisfying themselves that their action fits perfectly the requirements of the New Covenant — discernment of the charism presented to them having been duly exercised — the step they take is not just legitimate; it is the response to a duty of the supernatural order which is obligatory. The Message of Mercy, proclaimed by St. Faustina Kowalska, for which the way had been prepared in the Church by a long line of “mystics” (some of whom have also been declared Saints), appears to be what the Holy Spirit is indicat- ing to the Church as a means “necessary for the salvation of the elect” today, in the light of the theological conclusions here related. Our Lord’s “demand” for a Feast — by which His Mercy will be duly honored and sinners will be attracted to relinquish their sin and return with utter trust to the arms of their loving Father — does not appear to be a light matter at all. With her beatification and canonization, the revelations St. Faustina received from Our Lord with a solemn message to the Church and the world have to be taken into consideration as seriously as those granted to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (concerning the Sacred Heart of Jesus), to Bernadette Soubirous (the Lourdes message), and to the children at Fatima, not to mention others, which the Church eventually acted upon in a solemn way. 15. The reader should be aware of the fact that in the Roman Missal and liturgical books, after the Liturgical reform of Vatican Council II, the first Sunday after Easter is officially called “ The Second Sunday of Easter”. 74 Pillars of Fire in My Soul
