AWord About This Edition In presenting this new edition of Father Andrasz’s very popular booklet, we thought it appropriate to supply those sections of his original text that were not included in the original American publication. They were, for the greater part, addressed to readers in Poland, so, in 1948, the translators felt they were irrelevant to the American scene. Since these sections contain eyewitness information on the early spread of the devotion, we felt they might be of interest. Thus, we decided, by means of this new edition, to present the author’s work in its entirety. It must be noted, too, that all passages quoted herein from the Diary of Saint Faustina Kowalska have had to be concorded with the official, authentic text of that Diary which was submitted to the Sacred Congregation for the Causes of Saints as an integral part of the canonical process for her beatification. Readers familiar with the former printings, therefore, should not be surprised to find some changes in the rendering of the texts. The Polish edition of Saint Faustina Kowalska’s writings, which were collected during the Process of Information toward her beatification, bears the Imprimatur of Franciszek Macharski, Metropolitan Archbishop of Cracow, Poland, dated April 18, 1979.
