Pillars of Fire In My Soul
PROPAGATION OF DEVOTION TO THE DIVINE MERCY Jesus considers the preaching of sermons about Divine Mercy to be on the same level with the propagation of devotion to the Divine Mercy by people who are not priests, in this respect: that He attaches identical promises to both. Revelations 19, 20, and 46 indicate as much: “Souls...who will glorify and proclaimMy great Mercy to others will, at the hour of death, be dealt with according to My infinite Mercy,” reads revelation 20 (Diary §379). Revelation 46 formulates His promise in this way: “Souls who propagate the honor of My Divine Mercy, I will protect throughout their entire lives as a loving mother does her infant and, at the hour of death, I will not be their Judge but a Merciful Savior” (Diary §1075). Jesus, therefore, attached two promises to those who spread the veneration of The Divine Mercy: the first concerns one’s entire life: it is Jesus’motherly care of the one who spreads this Devotion. The second concerns the hour of death: it is Jesus’ assurance that in His attitude toward the dying His infinite Mercy will be manifested. Even though the formulation of both promises is not scientifically precise, nonetheless, it is strongly figurative and in general outlines shows that those who spread the veneration of The Divine Mercy can expect extraordinary Mercy at the hour of death. Jesus attached particular pastoral efficacy to the sermons preached by priests about The Divine Mercy. In revelation 65, He told Helen Faustina: “Tell My priests that hardened sinners will crumble beneath their words when they speak of My unfathomable Mercy, of the compassion that I bear for them in My Heart” (Diary §1521). From these words it is evident that sermons will possess an extraordinary efficacy for the conversion of sinners precisely when their theme is the Mercy, Goodness and Compassion that Jesus has for sinners.
