ment is only found in the sacramental grace of Baptism. In the promises cited, Christ tied the remission of all sins and punish- ment to the reception of Holy Communion on the Feast of Divine Mercy. The grace of the complete remission of sins and punishment is theologically possible since neither this grace, nor the conditions for obtaining it contradict revealed teach- ings. If God is able to bestow this grace through the sacrament of Baptism, why would He not be able to bestow it—if He so wishes—through the Eucharist, which is the greatest sacra- ment?And the requirement of trust, expressed in two of the rev- elations regarding the Feast of Mercy ( Diary , §§ 299, 300, and § 699), and absolutely necessary for every act of the Divine Mercy Devotion, isn’t it only a reminder of Sacred Scripture? What is more, the greatness of this grace is capable of bringing to life in us a boundless trust, which Jesus desires so much for us on this day of Mercy. The nature of this highest grace leaves no room for any ambiguity: It is the complete remission of sins and punishment; in other words: It is the complete forgiveness of all sins, which were not yet forgiven and of all punishment due for those sins. As regards the forgiveness of sins then, this grace is equal to the grace of Baptism. In other words, Jesus raised the reception of Holy Communion on the Feast of The Divine Mercy to the rank of a “second Baptism.” 10 [NOTE: Please do not omit to examine carefully this very important footnote.] It is obvious that in order to effect a complete forgiveness of sins and punishment, the Holy Communion received on the Feast of Divine Mercy must not only be partaken of worthily, but it must also fulfill the basic requirements of the Divine Mercy devotion. However, received unworthily, without trust in Divine Mercy and devoid of some deed of mercy toward neighbor, it would be a contradiction of Devotion to the Divine Mercy.
