This should be remembered as often as it is recited. It is a beautiful and profound prayer for the salvation of different categories of people and, in this regard, it is an act of spiritual mercy toward our neighbors. If, beyond this, it is recited with such trust as demanded by the Lord Jesus in the devotion, it would be an authentic act of the Devotion to which may be applied the promise attached by Christ to trust in Divine Mercy. Sister Helen Faustina composed and bequeathed to us in her Diary a litany 7 to The Divine Mercy. Another litany to Divine Mercy is found in a Cracowian, post-synodal prayer book, Sluzmy Bogu. While two litanies to The Divine Mercy already exist, then there is nothing to prevent the composition of yet another, perhaps even a more beautiful one than those already in existence. We need to remember, however, that the Lord Jesus did not attach any special promise to the recitation of the litany. If however, someone recites this litany or another with the required trust and works of mercy, he or she can only count on what the Lord Jesus generally attached to acts of trust in Mercy. These novenas were always novenas of Chaplets of The Divine Mercy. All the more, it should be remembered that Christ attached extraordinarily great promises to the recitation of the Chaplet. He gave it such great effectiveness that “through this Chaplet everything can be gained,” if such is the will of God.
