Jesus, Mercy Incarnate
the image is first of all a depiction of the risen and glorified Jesus, who appeared to Faustina in her convent cell with red and pale rays emanating from His breast (diary entry no.47). 74 Moreover, the risen Lord appeared to her on numerous occasions, including several times at the Mass of the Resurrection itself: The Resurrection. Today, during the (Mass of the) Resurrection, I saw the Lord Jesus in the midst of a great light. He approached me and said, “Peace be to you, My children,” and He lifted up His hand and gave His blessing. The wounds in His hands, feet and side were indelible and shining. When He looked at me with such kindness and love, my whole soul drowned itself in Him. And He said to me, “You have taken a great part in My Passion; therefore I now give you a great share in My joy and glory . ” 75 When the procession began, I saw Jesus in a brightness greater than the light of the sun. Jesus looked at me with love and said, “Heart of My Heart, be filled with joy . ” At that moment my spirit was drowned in Him. When I came to myself, I was walking along in the processionwith the sisters, while my soul was totally immersed in Him... 76 On several occasions, St. Faustina was also privileged to receive visions of heaven itself, and from these she learnedmuch about the glory that awaits the faithful servants of God: Today I was in heaven, in spirit, and I saw its inconceiv- able beauties and the happiness that awaits us after death. I saw how all creatures give ceaseless praise and glory to God. I saw how great is happiness in God, which spreads to all creatures, making them happy; and then all the glory and praise which springs from this happiness returns to its source; and they enter into the depths of God, contemplating the inner life of God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, whom they will never understand or fathom. This source of happiness is unchanging in its essence, but it is always new, gushing forth happiness for all creatures. 77 85 Saint Faustina and Devotion to the Passion of Jesus Christ
