Divine Mercy: The Heart of the Gospel
The Mercy of God and Modern Medicine 161 Almighty God and I entrust you to Him Who created you, so that now by your dying, having paid the debt unto which every man and woman is subject, you may return home safely to your Creator, to Him who formed you so wondrously, so marvellously, from the dust o f the earth and the Breath o f His Mouth. And now as your soul goes forth from your body, may the radiant company o f angels come out to greet you; may the assembly o f the apostles our judges, welcome you; may the victorious armies o f white- robed martyrs meet you on your way; may the glittering throngs of confessors, bright as lilies, gather around you; may the choirs of virgins and holy women receive you; may the patriarchs o f old enfold you in an embrace of blessed peace; may St. Joseph, the beloved patron o f all the dying, raise you up to your highest hopes and dreams; and may the holy Mother o f God, Holy Mary, lov ingly turn her eyes toward you; and then, gentle and joyful and strong, may Christ Jesus, Divine Mercy, appear before you to assign you your place for ever in the ranks o f His Blessed. May Christ, Who has suffered for you, free you from all your sufferings and from all your pains. May Christ, Who was crucified for you, free you from all your fears and from the death that never ends. May Christ, the Son o f the Living God, set you now in the ever green loveliness o f His paradise. And may He, the True Shepherd, recognize you as one of His own. May He set you free from all your sins and assign you a place for ever at His Right Hand in the company o f his elect. May you see your Redeemer face-to-face and, standing before Him always, may you gaze with delighted eyes on Goodness and Truth and Beauty revealed in all their full ness. So having taken your place in the ranks o f the Blessed, may you enjoy the happiness o f Heaven for ever and ever. May the promises o f Christ, The Divine Mercy, and the example of Blessed Faustina, inspire us to bring hope and healing to the sick and those who care for them.
