O Mary, Immaculate Virgin, Pure crystal for my heart, You are my strength, O sturdy anchor! You are the weak heart’s shield and protection. O Mary you are pure, of purity incomparable; At once both Virgin and Mother, You are beautiful as the sun, without blemish, And your soul is beyond all comparison. Your beauty has delighted the eye of the Thrice-Holy One. He descended from heaven, leaving His eternal throne, And took Body and Blood of Virgin’s Heart. O Mother, Virgin, purest of all lilies, Your hea rt was Jesus’ first tabernacle on earth. Only because no humility was deeper than yours Were you raised above the choirs of Angels and above all Saints. O Mary, my sweet Mother, I give you my soul, my body and my poor heart. Be the guardian of my life, Especially at the hour of death, in the final strife. Diary 161 From the Diary of St. Faustina Today I heard the words: In the Old Coven nt I sent prophets wielding thunderbolts to My people. Today I am sending you with My mercy to the people of the whole world. I do not want to punish aching mankind, but I desire to heal it, pressing it to My Merciful Heart. I use punishment when they themselves force Me to do so; My hand is reluctant to take hold of the sword of justice. Before the Day of Justice I am sending the Day of Mercy. I replied, “O my Jesus, speak to s uls Yourself, because my words are insignificant. ” +Today, my preparation is brief. A strong and livi g faith nearly tears away the veil of love. The presence of God penetrates my heart as a ray from the sun penetrates crystal. At the moment when I receive God, all my being is steeped in Him. Amazement and admiration overwhelm me when I see God ’s great majesty, which stoops down to me who am misery itself. There bursts forth from my soul immense gratitude to Him for all the graces that He imparts to me, and especially for the grace of being called to His exclusive service. Diary 1588, 1814 An Italian priest in the 13th century, St. Peregrine is known as the "Miracle-Worker" because of numerous miracles received through his intercession. The patron saint of cancer patients, he himself knew the experience of pain and illness. He was diagnosed with cancer in his leg and awaited amputation. The eve before the scheduled procedure, St. Peregrine brought himself to a crucifix. He received a vision of the Risen Lord extending His hand to touch the priest's afflicted leg.
