Rays fo Merciful Love Spring 2026

streets outside. And if you find the courage for this as well, humble yourself before God and thank Him for these things that humble you and begin to make you more like Him. Say to Him, “It was good for me to be afflicted, that I might learn your statutes” (Ps.119-71). Seek all this in your heart, as regards your interactions with others, express your reasons peacefully and with gentleness, and do not let yourself be disturbed. He also wrote, “In times of struggle we must keep our eyes on the Crucifix, to which we must conform ourselves, remembering as you do that Jesus Crucified is not only our model but also our help and our reward.” And, “Be on guard against thinking that he does not care about you, or that he is powerless to help you. That would be a misunderstanding of the immense love and almost infinite power that each of the Blessed enjoys.” Lastly, Venerable Bruno loved the Blessed Mother. He celebrated her feast days, surrounded himself with images of her, and he fondly spoke of her as his Mother and the one who nurtured him. Remember that we do not acquire holiness in 24 hours and we will not be without continued defects and failings. We must have a persistent hope in God’s Divine Mercy, and avoid discouragement because of our faults and failings. Father Bruno encouraged attendance at Mass and reception of Holy Communion as often as possible, as well as frequent reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and daily reading of Scripture. Prayer is vital throughout the day as hope is born of prayer. He wrote, “For the love of God, I beg you to wage continued warfare against negative moods, and never fail to begin again.” All these things help keep our focus on the things in life that truly matter. We must continue to try to be a reflection of Jesus as seen in the Divine Mercy Image. We must always speak to Jesus and unite our actions to His Will. Saint Augustine said that our hearts are restless until they rest in Him. Irecently read a book titled Overcoming Spiritual Discouragement by Fr. Timothy Gallagher, OMV, printed by EWTN Publishing and distributed by Sophia Press Institute. The book focuses on the writings of Venerable Bruno Lanteri, founder of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary. Father Bruno had his own struggles, but he did not succumb to them, and he wrote of the persistent battles to avoid spiritual discouragement. Remember the words our Lord told St. Faustina: “My daughter, know that the greatest obstacles to holiness are discouragement and an exaggerated anxiety” (Diary, 1488). Bruno Lanteri was born in Italy in 1759 and died in 1830. These were tumultuous years as the French Revolution engulfed all of Europe as well as the heresy of Jansenism — a teaching that portrayed God as an easily angered judge. This thinking led people to fear God rather than love him. Venerable Bruno brought hope, solace, and encouragement to people of faith. He wrote, “Say now with boldness, ‘Now I begin,’ and go forward constantly in God’s grace. Do not look back so often, because one who looks back cannot run.” A great obstacle in the spiritual life is discouragement. Father Bruno said, “Keep far from you the spirit of sadness and melancholy. Show yourself joyful even you do not feel so because of physical problems. At such times more than ever, guard against closing in on yourself, and turn your thoughts to Paradise, because it is yours.” He also said, “If I should fall a thousand times a day, a thousand times a day I will begin again.” Yes, when we fall, we must get up and keep going! Venerable Bruno Lanteri was aware of our human struggles and wrote: With regard to your interior battles and the empty thoughts you find in yourself, be patient with yourself and remain in peace; give these little weight. Bear with them as if they were noisy persons quarrelling in the “Mercy is love that seeks to lessen the misery of others.” — Bryan Thatcher, MD Eucharistic Apostles of The Divine Mercy Newsletter Spring 2026 By Bryan Thatcher, MD Overcoming Spiritual Discouragement

Ispoke at two Spanish-speaking conferences recently, and I wanted to share with you the growth of the message in Texas. The people were so kind to me in both places, and their love of God and their desire to learn more and draw even closer to him was so apparent. Gloria Coronado of San Antonio and Carlos Pezzini of Dallas are leading the charge, along with their spouses, in spreading the message of Divine Mercy through the EADM cenacle program in Texas. Gloria recently hosted a conference at the San Antonio Convention Center to emphasize God’s Mercy, the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, and the love of Our Blessed Mother for each of us. The love of the people and devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Divine Mercy were obvious. Gloria is actively involved with the Virgen de Guadalupe Media Foundation (1380 AM radio in San Antonio), and uses the station as another tool of evangelization. If you would like help starting a Spanish EADM cenacle or have questions about the radio station, email Gloria at [email protected] The radio station has a virtual Chaplet followed by the Rosary and formation in Divine Mercy using the EADM cenacle manuals. I believe this message is very important, as I mentioned, because it encompasses the essence of our faith and is powerful in its hope. I see these cenacles united and serving in much-needed charity to our brothers and sisters in society who today, more than ever, need to hear the message and spread this message of hope. Carlos and his team have a large group of EADM members, and his conference in Dallas was well attended. He recently ordered more than 225 copies of Book 4, “Mary Who She Is and Why She Matters,” and the fervor of the people was palpable at the conference. The people are growing closer to Our Lord and lives are being transformed and healed. All four manuals have now been translated into Spanish. 2 CENACLES UPDATE Spanish Cenacles Flourishing in Texas By Bryan Thatcher, MD Please Help the Philippines Project Visit Marian.org/Philippines

Ihad been writing to Sr. Anna Ali in Kenya nearly 30 years ago, when Bishop Korir and Sr. Ali invited me to come and speak in the diocese of Eldoret. I went to Kenya in 2003. It was a great trip and I spoke at several venues on the Eucharist and Divine Mercy and Our Lady. Sister Anna was a quiet and humble nun who was reportedly receiving visions of Our Lord in the late 1980’s. The messages, called “Divine Appeals,” urged intense prayer, penance, and conversion for a world facing great spiritual darkness. The messages spoke of corruption and impending divine justice, and emphasized Adoration of the Eucharist, atonement for sins, and preparation for severe trials. There were calls for urgent repentance to avoid chastisement, and mercy promised for those who turn back to Him. Sister Anna would reportedly weep tears of blood every Thursday that lasted for many years up to her death in 2012. This began after she had visions of Christ with tears of blood in 1998, leading her to become a “victim soul” for humanity’s conversion. I want to share a personal story about Sister. She wanted me to meet her mother who lived over an hour away. As she had no way to communicate with her mother, her mother was surprised when I showed up and had no customary gift to give me. So she gave me a live chicken! It rode on my lap to the Bishop’s house and I gave it to the Bishop. I brought Images and our cenacle books and other materials to Kenya, and Sister gave me many mementos of Kenya which I still have today. My Trip to Kenya to Meet Sister Anna Ali By Bryan Thatcher, MD Note: I share this story of reported private revelations from Kenya, Africa. Years ago, the late Bishop Cornelius Korir of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret, Kenya, provided ecclesiastical approval for the visions and messages of Sr. Anna Ali. However, they have not been approved yet by the Vatican and await the Church’s future discernment. This article typifies some of the amazing people that I have met while spreading the message of mercy. I met Sr. Anna Ali’s mom in 2003. Her mother was surprised when I showed up and had no customary gift to give me. So she gave me a live chicken! It rode on my lap to the Bishop’s house and I gave it to the Bishop. Sister Anna Ali

This article is about how one couple sought Jesus’ Divine Mercy during their young son’s battle with cancer and how they found peace and consolation at his passing with the graces Jesus promised to those who faithfully trusted and submitted to God’s Will. Having witnessed the amazing manifestations of God’s Divine Mercy in the form of various spiritual and physical miracles during their son’s treatment days, the couple started to learn more about Jesus’ Divine Mercy message through St. Faustina. Participating in the parish’s Eucharistic Apostles of Divine Mercy (EADM) Cenacle Formation prepared them for two more bouts of suffering when the husband had to battle with two very aggressive cancer cases over three years. He died cancer free and still holding on to a Divine Mercy prayer card in the palm of his hand. Pope St. John Paul II, in his homily on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 30, 2000, best described the spiritual healing through Jesus’ Divine Mercy that is critically necessary for crisis situations such as these: This consoling message is addressed above all to those who, afflicted by a particularly harsh trial or crushed by the weight of the sins they committed, have lost all confidence in life and are tempted to give in to despair. To them the gentle face of Christ is offered; those rays from his heart touch them and shine upon them, warm them, show them the way and fill them with hope. How many souls have been consoled by the prayer “Jesus, I trust in you,” which Providence intimated through Sister Faustina! This simple act of abandonment to Jesus dispels the thickest clouds and lets a ray of light penetrate every life. “Jezu, ufam tobie.” . . . The invocation of God’s mercy needs to rise up from the depth of hearts filled with suffering, apprehension, and uncertainty, and at the same time yearning for an infallible source of hope. The wife further witnessed many spiritual and physical miracles during her husband’s sufferings and death. She also saw how many patients in the hospitals suffer and die without knowing God, were unprepared and worse, have no one praying for them. The witnessing of how Jesus’ promises of Divine Mercy benefitted her loved ones and realization of how they will benefit mankind, sinners, sick, suffering, dying, faithful, devout, and all, for one’s self or for others were clearly a calling to respond. As St. John Paul II emphasized on Aug. 17, 2002, at the dedication of the Divine Mercy Shrine in Krakow-Lagiewniki: “May the binding promise of the Lord Jesus be fulfilled: from here there must go forth ‘the spark which will prepare the world for his final coming’ (Diary, 1732). This spark needs to be lighted by the grace of God. This fire of mercy needs to be passed on to the world. In the mercy of God, the world will find peace and mankind will find happiness!” The Lord told St. Faustina, “Tell [all people], My daughter, that I am Love and Mercy itself. When a soul approaches Me with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of graces that it cannot contain them within itself, but radiates them to other souls” (Diary, 1074). And so, two EADM members’ desire to start spreading Jesus’ Divine Mercy message to others with the gift of a Divine Mercy Image for a parish’s Eucharistic Chapel (in memory of their deceased son) continues to this day to wherever Jesus desires his Fount of Mercy to be. Yes, in chapels at cancer centers or pro-life centers in Texas, Main Sanctuaries and Eucharistic Adoration Chapels in New York, or as far away as churches in the Philippines, missions in Vietnam, the cathedral in Quebec City, Canada, a convent in Kluang, Malaysia, a Divine Mercy Shrine in Singapore, and more. Jesus said, “I am offering people a vessel with which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of mercy. That vessel is this image with the signature: ‘Jesus, I trust in You’” (Diary, 327). And, “I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish. I also promise victory over [its] enemies already here on earth, especially at the hour of death. I Myself will defend it as My own glory” (Diary, 48). It usually starts with His Divine Mercy Image being brought to the Main Sanctuary or Eucharistic Chapel of a parish, and soon Jesus starts touching the hearts of the parishioners who venerate His mercy. Jesus instructed St. Faustina to write down in her diary that He desires His Image to be brought to the rest of the world, and so it was not surprising to subsequently see parishioners starting EADM Cenacle Formations, distributing Rosaries, Chaplets, and prayer cards at hospitals, hospices, etc. Jesus’ miracle of multiplying loaves for everyone who approaches Him works all the time! We, as Eucharistic Apostles of Divine Mercy (EADM), should witness to others that submitting and living God’s Divine Love and Mercy with Jesus, and understanding Divine Mercy as the Way of Life, truly receives Jesus’ promises of peace and joy no matter what one’s life circumstances are. Jesus told St. Faustina: Souls who spread the honor of My mercy I shield through their entire lives as a tender mother her infant, and at the hour of death I will not be a Judge for them, but the Merciful Savior. At that last hour, a soul has nothing with which to defend itself except My mercy. Happy is the soul that during its lifetime immersed itself in the Fountain of Mercy, because justice will have no hold on it (Diary, 1075). 5 14510022 © 2026 Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the B.V.M.
