By Chris Sparks At the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette in Attleboro, Massachusetts, roughly two hours away from the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, there’s an unexpected spiritual treasure. The museum at the La Salette Shrine has one of the largest collections of crèches, or Christmas Nativity scenes, in North America. I discovered this by accident on a recent pilgrimage to an assortment of different shrines and holy sites in New England, delving into some of the other spiritual treasures available to pilgrims who come to see us in Stockbridge, if only you have some extra time and plan ahead. Spiritual treasures The La Salette Shrine has a beautiful church dedicated to commemorating Our Lady’s historic apparition on Sept. 19, 1846, to two children, Maximin Giraud, 11, and Mélanie Calvat, 14, in La Salette-Fallavaux, France.
