Father Donald Calloway, MIC, was the celebrant and homilist for the Divine Mercy Sunday Liturgy. Citing the Gospel reading (Jn 20:1931) of “doubting” Thomas, he pointed out that everyone present shares in Jesus’ words: “Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” “Let us rejoice that you have been declared blessed today!” he said. “Let us move forward as apostles of mercy.” Nermine Rubin, founder of Water4Mercy and a Marian Helper, shared how her consecration to Jesus through Mary opened her heart to help bring water to poor communities in Africa. Sister Deirdre “Dede” Byrne, POSC, superior of the Little Workers of the Sacred Hearts and sister of Bishop William Byrne of Springfield, told the faithful, “We cannot love without suffering,” yet “love is the most precious part of our being. God is the door to pure love, but Our Lady is the doorknob.” Getting ready for the Divine Mercy Sunday Liturgy are Br. Paul, MIC, Br. Jacob, MIC, and Br. Alex Chung, MIC. Geneva from Saugerties, New York, brought her fiancé and 80-year-old mother to Eden Hill. “I really appreciated the feeling of community from the crowd here and just seeing my mom light up.”
