THE GIFT OF FORGIVENESS The Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, JCD, was the celebrant of the Divine Mercy Sunday Liturgy on April 7 at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy. Archbishop Broglio oversees the Archdiocese for the Military Services, U.S.A., and is the president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Here is an excerpt from his homily. Gathered in this National Shrine, we recall that Divine Mercy is without a doubt directly related to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, which gives meaning to all sacrifice. Suffering has meaning inasmuch as it allows us to be in communion with the Lord who suffered for us. We begin to understand the depth of His love. Divine Mercy flows forth from the wounded side of Christ in the moment of His glorification, as St. John portrays the Passion, Death, and Resurrection as an inseparable, unique moment.
