According to the decree, through- out the year, the faithful will have the opportunity,“with prayer and good works, to obtain, with the help of St. Joseph, head of the heavenly Family of Nazareth, comfort and relief from the serious human and social tribulations that besiege the contemporary world today.” Here are the conditions for receiving the plenary indulgence: According to the decree issued by the Apostolic Peni- tentiary on Dec. 8, the plenary indulgence is granted under the usual conditions (sacramental Confession, Euc haristic Communion, and prayer for the H oly Father’s intentions) to Christians who, with a spirit detached from any sin, partici- pate in the Year of St. Joseph in any of the following ways: l meditate for at least 30 minutes on the Lord’s Prayer because St. Joseph “invites u s to rediscover our filial relationship with the Father, to renew fidelity to prayer, to listen and correspond with profound discernment to God’s will”; l take part in a spiritual retreat o f at least one day that includes a meditation on St. Joseph; l follow St. Joseph’s example by performing a spiritual or corporal work of mercy; Y e a r o f S t .
