I t’s been recommended by saints and sinners, popes and peasant children, the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Incarnate Son of God. It’s more than 800 years old, and it’s still the source of inexhaustible graces. I’m talking, of course, about the Rosary. With October coming upon us — the month dedicated to the Rosary — let’s turn our attention to this devotion that’s powerful enough to stop wars, bring world peace, and convert sinners. The Rosary is so impor- tant to me that, when I was discerning my voca- tion, I only wanted to join a religious com- munity that prayed the Rosary every day. The Marian Fathers w ere just that community. We are required by our Constitutions — the governing documents of the Congregation — to pray at least one set of mysteries every day. I love this about our community. But what makes the Rosary so important? When the Rosary was given to St. Dominic in the 13 th century, its primary purpose was to convert those in error back to the truths of Catholicism.
