18 Ten Virtues came into being, because the Scriptures directly speak of those virtues. Each of the ten chapters of the Rule refers to a concrete virtue of the Blessed Mother noted by the Gospels. In 1501, Bl. Gabriel Maria prepared the text of the Rule under Joan’s direction. Along with professing poverty, chastity, and obedience, the Annunciades also vowed to remain cloistered. Bl. Gabriel Maria, OFM, inspired by the Blessed Virgin Mary, writes the “Rule of the Ten Virtues” — in symbolical interpretation of an old drawing.
