Because the buildings where we live were originally meant as summer homes, they have never been winterized. e thin pipes are not insulated to function in cold New England winters when temperatures drop to minus 20 degrees. Each winter we experience what you see here: the pipes freeze and burst, then by the time the leak is discovered, the ooding causes damage to as many as all 3 oors of the house requiring sheetrock replacement on the walls and ceilings. Once the new Monastery is built, two of our current residential buildings will be renovated and re-purposed as retreat houses. New Monastery 3
