ple in the Christian countries did not know the principles of faith, and because of the shortage of priests, the Marians, with the permission of the bishops, should teach the simple people the truths of the faith, both in their own churches and in the parish churches of the villages and towns. The instructions emphasize that such teaching should not involve debating complicated questions, but giving information necessary for salvation, namely : so that they would get to know God, learn to love and praise Him, and to fulfill their Christian duties. These truths should be taught with such simplicity that all could under- stand. Therefore, beginning at the period of the novitiate, Marians should prepare themselves to teach Catechism and to preach useful sermons. On July 1, 1749, at the annual meeting presided over by Father Wyszy<ski, the superiors were obliged to ensure that Catechism was taught at their monasteries. This task was to be fulfilled by the clerics, and if there were none, by the promoters of the local fraternities or by the young priests. The catechesis would last four months, from the time when the period of Easter confessions was over till October. The classes were to be held every Sunday in the afternoon. Father Wyszy<ski fulfilled these goals of the Marian vocation with a great zeal. In the beatification process of the Servant of God, the witnesses testified unanimously that he worked alongside the laborers at the construction of the monastery in G[ra Kalwaria.
