1. IN SEARCH OF THE WAY OF LIFE John Casimir and Hedwig ]born Zawadzka\ Wyszy<ski belonged to the affluent nobility related to many magnate houses. They were descendants of families characterized by their devotion to religious tradition and piety. It is worth mentioning that John Casimir’s own brother Joseph Wyszy<ski joined the order of the Dominicans. He spent the last years of his life at the church of St. Jacek in Warsaw where he led the Confraternity of the Rosary. On the other hand, Hedwig Wyszy<ski’s three brothers, Ignatius, Wac=aw, and Dominic Zawadzki, joined the Piarist order. From 1695, John Casimir and Hedwig Wyszy<ski were the owners of the estates at Jeziora Wielka and Za="?e Wielkie near Gr[jec. Eight children were born from their marriage, out of which three sons dedicated themselves to the service of God : Andrew John ]1684-1754\ joined the Piarists, John ]1699-1773\ joined the Vincentatians, and Januarius Francis, the Marians. Januarius Francis was born on August 19, 1700 at Jeziora Wielka ]presently known as Jezi[rka\ as the sev- enth child. During a solemn baptism at the local church at Jeziora Wielka, he was given the names Januarius Francis. His biographers refer to him most often as Francis.
