Masses of Patron Saints and Blesseds Volume 1 Missal

A WORD FROM THE SUPERIOR GENERAL In recent decades, an increasing number of communities have been formed in our Congregation that use English as the main language among confreres and the faithful entrusted to their pastoral care. This created an urgent need to prepare various liturgical texts in English, which would serve the fruitful experience of liturgical celebrations and pass on the spirituality and character of our Institute to new generations of Marians, especially in the United States, as well as in Africa and Asia. It is worth recalling here the recommendation of our Directory, which in paragraph 3 says: “The commemorations of the Patrons of the entire Congregation, individual Province, Vicariate, house, or apostolate should be celebrated. In accordance with the Marian Calendar, the titular solemnity of the Congregation, as well as the feasts of our Founder and our Renovator, should be celebrated in a special way.…” Therefore, we appreciate and celebrate the initiative of the confreres from the Province of the B.V.M., Mother of Mercy, in the U.S.A., who undertook the effort of professionally developing and printing the third edition of the liturgical texts in English, together with the appropriate Mass readings, especially regarding the recently accepted new patrons of the Congregation, as well as those concerning their own Province. The full title of the publication is: COLLECTION OF MASSES OF PATRON SAINTS AND BLESSEDS PROPER TO THE ENGLISH SPEAKING COMMUNITIES OF THE CONGREGATION OF MARIAN FATHERS OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE MOST B.V.M. Hereby, I would like to express my gratitude for this undertaking and hope that the effort made will serve to deepen the awareness of the specificity of the Marian vocation among our confreres around the world who speak English. May the Immaculately Conceived Blessed Virgin Mary and our Saints and Blesseds, especially our holy Father and Founder Stanislaus, intercede for us, imploring for us sanctity of life and numerous vocations. Rome, Feast of the Presentation of the Lord – Day for Consecrated Life, February 2, 2023. Andrzej Pakuła, MIC Superior General
