from Loreto so that its light would remain with him at the hour of his death. Death found him in Balsam ã o, Portugal, which isn’t far from Cape Finisterre. He knew that he was reaching the end of his earthly trav- els and was about to meet God beyond. He died in the opinion of holiness. Soon after, the Church process for his beatification was opened. Father Casimir Wyszyński (1700-1755) is this pil- grim, whose life and work are depicted in this book. Interest in the person and work of the Servant of God Casimir is now growing in Portugal, Poland, Brazil, the United States and other countries. Sym- posia, books, and articles, which appeared on the occa- sion of the 250 th anniversary of his death, tell about various aspects of his life and work. I have based the present publication primarily on the Positio, describ- ing Fr.
