OCTOBER 5 51 INTENTIONS 1. For the Church, that she may fully embrace the message of The Divine Mercy given to us through the writings of Saint Faustina, let us pray to the Lord. Response: Lord, hear our prayer. 2. For priests and religious, that they may grow in holiness and proclaim the message of Divine Mercy to the whole world, let us pray to the Lord. ℟. 3. For the sick and the suffering, that God may console and strengthen them through the intercession of Saint Faustina, let us pray to the Lord. ℟. 4. For the dying, that they may embrace the mercy of the Lord as their hope of salvation, let us pray to the Lord. ℟. 5. For the faithful departed most in need of God’s mercy, that they may enjoy the Beatific Vision without delay, let us pray to the Lord. ℟. Through her joyful sacrifice of love and through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy, we trust that you will hear and answer all our prayers offered through the merciful heart of Jesus. These alternative options are English equivalents of the Proper Readings that were approved in Latin, Italian, and Polish by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments on March 1, 1993 (cf. Prot. CD 2175/92). (The English versions were taken from various different sections of the English Lectionary for Mass: For Use in the Dioceses of the United States of America – 2nd Typical Edition).
