250 APPENDIX II BLESSING AND INVESTITURE WITH THE BLUE SCAPULAR 12. The newly admitted to the Confraternity remain kneeling and the celebrant continues with the prayer of the blessing of the Scapular. The following formula can be used also when the ceremony of blessing and investiture with the Scapular is not combined with the admission into the Confraternity. Celebrant: Lord Jesus Christ Who did condescend to clothe yourself with our wounded nature, we humbly beg you of your immeasurable goodness to bless ✠ this garment, designed in honor and in memory of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is meant that all who wear it will pray for the conversion of sinners. And let your servant(s)/(handmaid(s)) thus invested, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also deserve to put on you. Who live and reign for ever and ever. ℟. Amen. 13. The celebrant sprinkles the Scapular with holy water and places it over the shoulders of the recipient, saying: eceive, beloved brother (sister), the Scapular of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, so that through her intercession you can strip yourself of the old man and be cleansed from every defilement of sin. May you wear it without stain and come to possess life everlasting. Through Christ our Lord. ℟. Amen. Celebrant: nd I, by the faculties granted to me, enroll you as a partaker of all the spiritual benefits which, by the grace of God and the privilege of the Holy See accrue to our Congregation (or the Congregation of Clerks Regular).1 In the name of the Father, and the Son, ✠ and the Holy Spirit. ℟. Amen. 1 The part in red brackets is said (instead of “our Congregation”) if the person is not joining the Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception. The reason for this is that there is the opportunity of accepting the Scapular of the Immaculate Conception of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary without joining the Marian Fathers’ Confraternity.
