M AY 69 In 1940, Brother CASIMIR SPECIUS , a member of the Lithuanian Province, died at the age of 61 at the house in Ukmergė, Lithuania. He was a religious for 20 years. Known for his diligence, obedience and affability, he served the community as an expert gardener. He is buried in Ukmergė. m Ay 7 On May 7, 1748, Father IGNATIUS ŁOSZEWSKI (Wo-shef-ski) died at the monastery in Puszcza Korabiewska. He was known for his obedience and the good- ness with which he served the sick. Because of his genuine simplicity, he suffered much from the derision of others, which he bore with great patience. He is buried in the crypt of the Puszcza Korabiewska church. In 1995, Brother CASIMIR ŻMIJOWSKI (Zhmee-yo-fski), a member of the Portuguese Vice-Province, died at the age of 85 in Balsamão, Portugal. He was a religious for 43 years. During World War II, he joined the Polish army in Russia, passed through the Middle East, and took part in the military campaign against the Germans in Italy. Being honorably discharged from the military in England in 1951, he entered our Congregation and served for four years in our Roman house as a sac- ristan, gardener, and assistant cook. Transferred to Portugal, he served the commu- nity of the Balsamão house as an assistant treasurer, mechanic, and bee-keeper. A hard-working man, he was known for his piety and humility. He is buried in Balsamão. m Ay 8 On May 8, 1768, Father NICODEMUS DŁUGOŁĘSKI (Dwoo-go-wen- ski), chaplain at Ludwinów, died. He joined the Order as a priest and lived for some years at the monastery in Marijampolė, but did not make a profession of vows. He is buried in Mariajampole. In 2013, FatherANTHONY ŠKEļS , a member of the Latvian Vicariate, died at the age of 98. He was a religious for 77 years and a priest for 73. He served in Latvia during the difficult years in the history of the Church. The communist author- ities tried to persuade him to abandon the priesthood, but he unfalteringly refused. He continued to fulfill his priestly duties along with the duties of the provincial superior three times. He also taught Moral Theology and the Ascetics at the semi- nary in Riga. He is buried in Viļāni. m Ay 10 On May 10, 1715, Brother AUGUSTINE died at the monastery in Góra Kalwaria, where he is buried.
