A PrIl 13 On April 13, in 1749, Brother JAMES MACHACZEK (Ma-ha-chek), the first Bohemian in our Order, died at the monastery in Puszcza Korabiewska. He was loved and appreciated by all the members of the community for the zeal with which he sought to serve all Masses and for the services he rendered as a tailor. He is buried in the crypt of the Puszcza Korabiewska church. In 1804, Father JOHN NIEZABITOWSKI (N'e-za-bi-tof-ski), Assistant of the Order, died at the monastery in Skórzec. He resided at the monastery of St. Vitus in Rome for 18 years as an associate Procurator General and was a student of art. Expelled in 1798 with other Marians from Rome by the French army, he returned to Poland where he dedicated himself to painting, and decorated, among others, the church in Skórzec, where is buried. In 1930, JOSEPH BURNEIKIS, a postulant in the American Province of St. Casimir, died at the age of 15 at the house in Marian Hills, Illinois. He is buried in the cemetery in Elizabethtown, Illinois. In 1991, Father FRANCIS SKRODENIS , a member of the American Province of Saint Casimir, died at the age of 85 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a reli- gious for 65 years and a priest for almost 60. He fulfilled the duties of local superior in Kenosha and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and those of pastor in Chicago and Milwaukee. He was also treasurer in various houses and provincial treasurer for many years. Struck with paralysis, he bore his infirmity with an exemplary patience during the last 10 years of his life. He is buried in the section reserved for the Marians in St. Casimir’s cemetery in Chicago. A PrIl 14 OnApril 14, 1796, Father INNOCENTMICHAŁOWICZ (Mi-ha-wo-vich), preacher of the monastery, died at the age of 41 at the Skórzec monastery. He was a religious for 17 years. He is buried in the crypt of the church in Skórzec. In 1797, Father ANTHONY STRZAŁKOWSKI (St-shaw-kof-ski) died on Good Friday at the age of 51 at the parish in Prazmów while hearing Easter confes- sions. He was a religious for 28 years. Meek and humble of heart, he led an exem- plary life. He is buried at the church of the Lord’s Cenacle in Góra Kalwaria. In 2004, Father VICTOR ŠAUKLYS , age 95, died in Girdžai, Lithuania. He was a religious for 75 years and a priest for 70. He was exiled to Siberia for 10 years. Upon his return he served as a pastor in different parishes, because religious orders were suppressed.
