† A LBUM OF THE D ECEASED F ATHERS AND B ROTHERS † 40 the 85 th year of his life. He was a religious for 66 years and a priest for 58. His first assignment was to teach French at the Marianapolis Preparatory School in Thomp- son, Connecticut. Afterwards, he spent many years serving in various Marian parishes in the U.S. and in Argentina. He spent several years at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy, in Stockbridge, MA, where he celebrated Masses and heard confessions in several languages. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ cemetery on Eden Hill in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. f ebruAry 28 On February 28, in 1793, Father JOSEPH MRAAS died in Zemoslawie. He was invited by the noble benefactress Zofia (of the Szczuk family) Countess Butler to stay in her country estate in hope of restoring his failing health. He was then the General Superior and “lector emeritus” of sacred theology. Endowed with the title of “Father of the Order,” he was much esteemed for his virtuous life and untiring care for the good of the community. He is buried in the parish church of Sobotniki, near Vilnius. In 2001, Father VYTAUTAS BAGDANAVICIUS , a member of the Saint Casimir Province, died in the U.S. He was born in Lithuania, in 1908. Ordained to the priesthood in 1936 in Vilkaviskis, he studied in Kaunas, Grenoble, and Munich. He joined our Congregation in the U.S. in 1949. He directed the Lithuanian School of Journalism and the Lithuanian Pedagogical Institute. He wrote many books and academic articles. He is buried in the section reserved for the Marians in St. Casimir’s cemetery in Chicago. In 2019, Bishop ELLIOT GRIFFIN THOMAS , age 92, Bishop Emeritus of Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, passed away at Saint John Neumann Residence – Stella Maris in Timonium, Maryland. He had been affiliated with our Congregation since December 16, 2002. Following the funeral Mass, the body of Bishop Thomas was flown to St. Thomas.
