In 1998, Brother CHESTER BANASZKIEWICZ , a member of the British Province, died at Fawley Court at the age of 86, having lived as a religious for 47 years. In 1939, he was taken prisoner by the Nazis. After the war, he settled in England where he joined our Congregation in Hereford in 1950. From 1953 on, he lived at Fawley Court and served as a gardener and sacristan there. He is buried in the cemetery in Henley-on-Thames. In 2013, Father JANUSZ ZAWADKA (Za-vad-ka) died at a hospital in Anin, Poland, shortly before his 50 th birthday. He was a religious for nearly 30 years and a priest for 24. He served pastorally in Poland, Germany, Italy (where he also stud- ied at the Urbanianum University in Rome), and in Great Britain. He obtained a Doctoral degree in pastoral theology at the University of Augsburg (Germany). Throughout his whole life he bore great suffering on account of his poor health. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ section of the Wawrzyszew cemetery in Warsaw. f ebruAry 26 On February 26, 1883, Father PETER WITKOWSKI (Vit-kof-ski), a reli- gious for 52 years, died at the age of 77 at the monastery in Marijampolė. He was the president of the monastery in Miroslavas, when it was suppressed by the hostile Russian government in 1866. Along with other house members, he was forcibly transferred to Marijampolė. He is buried in Marijampolė. In 2008, Father PRANAS ADOMAITIS , the oldest priest of the Vilkaviskis Diocese, died in Marijampolė. He was nearly 97 years old, and spent 20 of these years in exile. He joined the Marians in 1929 and served in Marijampolė in youth ministry. In 1945, he was arrested and sent to Soviet prison camps. Released in 1966, he returned to Lithuania and served as pastor in Lejpuny, and later as vicar in Seiraj. In 1955, he was vicar at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Marijampolė, and later in Gierdasiai. He is buried in Marijampolė. f ebruAry 27 On February 27, 1951, Brother JOHN KUKLYS , a member of the Lithuanian Province, died in Marijampolė at the age of 67. He was a professed Marian for 16 years. Previously, he had been a member of the Congregation of Dolorist Brothers. He was greatly appreciated for his work as a gardener. He is buried in Marijampolė. In 2016, FatherANTHONYNOCKUNAS , fortified by the Sacraments of the Church, peacefully passed away at the Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam, CT, in F EBRUARY 39
