F EBRUARY In 2007, we learned of the death of Father JOHNVAIVODS , a sacerdos agre- gatus of our Congregation since Nov. 1, 1999. In his capacity of a priest, he served the Church in Latvia for over 57 years. He was very well educated and fluent in eight languages. For many years he was a professor at the Riga Seminary. The last seven years of his life he spent in our monastery in Viļāni. He wanted to undergo the novitiate and make religious vows, however, his health did not allow it. Although he remained a vir agregatus , in his heart he considered himself to be fully a Marian. He is buried in Viļāni. f ebruAry 21 On February 21, 1982, Father JOSEPH ZAWADZKI died of cancer in Warsaw, at the age of 77. Amember of the Polish Province, he was a priest for 51 years and a religious for 31. As a diocesan priest, he received his Doctoral degree in sacred theology and taught at the University of Vilnius. As a Marian, he taught phi- losophy, was the confessor of seminarians and religious sisters, and a hospital chap- lain in Bielany. He was active in ecumenism. He is buried in the Marian Fathers’ cemetery in Góra Kalwaria. f ebruAry 22 On February 22, 1947, Father FRANCIS MEŠKAUSKAS , a priest for 54 years and a religious for 30, died at the age of 77 at the house in žemaiciu Kalvarija. He began his religious life as a member of the American Province of St. Casimir, but a few years later returned to his native Lithuania, where he remained until his death, exercising pastoral ministry in various parishes. He is buried in Žemaiciu Kalvarija. In 1954, Brother SIMON RYBICKAS , a member of the Lithuanian Province, died at the house in Ukmergė at the age of 70. A religious for 17 years, he served the community in various manual tasks. He is buried in Ukmergė. f ebruAry 23 On February 23, 2004, Bishop JOHN OLSZAŃSKI (Ol-shan'-ski) died sud- denly in Kamyanets Podilskyi. He was born and spent his entire life in Ukraine. He studied and was ordained in Lvov in 1942. He died at the age of 84, being a religious for 15 years, and a bishop for 12. He is buried in the crypt of the Kamyanets Cathedral. f ebruAry 24 On February 24, 1763, Father NICHOLAS KREYCZYK (Kre-y-chik), a Czech, died at the monastery in Skórzec. He was a religious for 10 years. He served 37
