F EBRUARY 35 entered the Marian Novitiate in Skórzec. After making his vows, he went to work in Druya. In October of 1941, he became the mission superior. He died at the age of 52, while trying to save his parishioners from despair and voluntarily sharing with them the penalty inflicted by the Nazi pacification units on the residents of Rosica village. Lord, hear our prayer. from theAlbum of the DeCeAseD: On February 17, 1801, Father LAWRENCE PABREŻ (Pab-rezh) died at the age of 72 at the monastery in Miroslavas. He was a religious for 37 years. Known as “a singular lover and devotee of religious obedience,” he fulfilled various offices in the Order. He is buried in Miroslavas. In 1999, Father VYTAUTAS (VITO) ŠIMANSKIS died after a brief illness at the age of 77 inAvellaneda,Argentina. He was a religious for 59 years and a priest for 48. As a Marian Seminarian in Marijampolė, he was forced by the retreating Germans to go to Germany. Eventually, he was able to rejoin our community in Rome, where he continued his studies. He was ordained in our parish church in Avellaneda, Argentina, in 1950. While assisting in our Argentinean parishes, he spent most of his years caring for Casa San Casimiro in Villa del Dique, Argentina. He is buried in Rosario. f ebruAry 18 from the mArIAn CAlenDAr: February 18 th marks the anniversary of martyrdom of blessed george KAsZyrA (Ka-shee-ra), elevated to the glory of the altars by Pope St. John Paul II on June 13, 1999, inWarsaw, Poland. The Blessed was born near Druya, Belarus, in an Orthodox family. At 20 years of age, he became a Catholic (along with his mother), and in 1925, he entered the Druya novitiate. He was ordained a priest in 1935 in Vilnius and worked afterwards as an educator of religious youth in Vilnius and Druya. In July, 1942, he joined the mission run by Fr.A. Leszczewicz in Rosica, and in February 1943, they both decided to remain with their parishioners, con- demned to death by fire, to save them from despair.
