I also often recited the chaplet of the ten virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary, made the sign of the cross over menacing clouds and called for the intercession of our Venerable Father [Stanislaus]. Meditation From the traditions of our Congregation, we know that Fr. Casimir Wyszyński nurtured a desire to proclaim the honor to the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the farthest corners of the world, including Brazil and India. He was ready – following the example of his master, Saint Stanislaus Papczyński – to give his life for this cause. Father Casimir rejoiced from the news that the Portuguese King intended to bring our Order over to Portugal. He believed that taking on a mission would allow the Congregation to sail out into wider waters and become an impulse for greater dedication and development. Being a practical man, well aware of the mindset of the then members of his Congregation, Father Casimir did not believe that prompting his confreres to break away from stagnant patterns and conformism would be easy. In his work entitled, The Marians from 1670-1788, Father Jan Kosmowski accurately reflects Father C. Wyszyński’s evaluation of the existing state of affairs. In this short excerpt, it is worth paying attention to the spiritual attitude of Father C. Wyszyński – resulting from his profound insight into the nature of the Church, carried out by the constant call to the missions: “Proclaim the Gospel to every creature and baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.” The view of the Servant of God is thus rendered by Fr. J. Kosmowski: “Father Wyszyński was aware that – similar to the case of purchasing a church in Rome where much labor and effort was involved – the beginning of the Por-
