Nursing with the Hands of Jesus

How, as Catholic Christians, we can forget that He is truly present in the Eucharist? Through St. Faustina, He complained about the indifference of many souls to His Eucharistic Presence: Oh, how painful it is to Me that souls so seldom unite themselves to Me in Holy Communion. I wait for souls, and they are indifferent toward Me. I love them tenderly and sincerely, and they distrust Me. I want to lavish My graces on them, and they do not want to accept them. They treat Me as a dead object, whereas My Heart is full of love and mercy. In order that you may know at least some of My pain, imagine the most tender of mothers who has great love for her children, while those children spurn her love. Consider her pain. No one is in a position to console her. This is but a feeble image and likeness of My love (1447). Remaining in the Presence of Jesus Remembering that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist may inspire us to spend some time with Him in Adoration. This actitvity will bring forth great spiritual fruitfulness and an experience of His abiding love. Seek some time to pray in the hospital chapel where the Eucharist is reserved or in an Adoration chapel nearby. All nurses, however, can be aware of the presence of Jesus in their heart and the heart of the suffering patient. After St. Faustina’s example they, too, can “set up a little cell in [their] heart where [they] always can keep company with Jesus”(16). They do well when they adore Him in their heart to entrust their work and the suffering of their patients to Him, uniting themselves in this way with His Passion.
